President Message
Prof Ajith Malalasekara,
President, College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka
Distinguished delegates, esteemed colleagues, and honored guests,
It is my distinct privilege to invite you to Colombo for the Sri Lanka Surgical Congress 2026. This year, we are proud to convene in joint collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the South Asian Surgical Care Society, marking a significant milestone in our pursuit of global surgical excellence.
Our theme centers on shaping the surgeon of tomorrow, anchored by three unwavering pillars: Academia, Integrity, and Accountability. We have curated a faculty of world-renowned international speakers and scientists who represent the vanguard of surgical innovation. Their presence offers an unparalleled opportunity for high-level knowledge exchange and professional development.
A cornerstone of this year’s congress is our dedicated Trauma Day. Given that trauma remains one of Sri Lanka’s most pressing health challenges, we will focus on evidence-based management and maximal resource utilization, bridging the gap between current realities and future innovations.
This congress is more than a series of lectures; it is a melting pot for cross-specialty collaboration. Whether you are a surgeon, a scientist, or a medical specialist from an aligned field, this is your platform to build lasting networks and immerse yourself in the evolving art and science of surgery.
We invite you to experience the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality and the intellectual rigor of our scientific program. Together, let us refine our skills and prepare for a future defined by surgical precision and compassionate care.
See you in Colombo!
Secretary
Dr Thathya de Silva

This year, we are proud to host this landmark event in prestigious collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the South Asian Surgical Care Society.
From the 2nd to the 5th of September, the vibrant city of Colombo will become a global hub for surgical excellence. Under the visionary theme, “Shaping Tomorrow’s Surgeon through Academia, Integrity, and Accountability,” we have curated a programme that is as intellectually rigorous as it is inspiring.
A Scientific Programme will feature 29 dynamic Symposia and 16 Plenary sessions led by industry pioneers, high-level Master Classes and interactive Breakfast Sessions for deep-dive technical insights and prestigious Orations and Debates that challenge the status quo. A comprehensive suite of Pre- and Post-Congress Workshops covering the full spectrum of surgical specialties can be looked forward to.
A cornerstone of this year’s congress is the second day, dedicated entirely as “Trauma Day 2026.” Organized in collaboration with IATSIC, ACT, and ICC, this session brings together world-renowned trauma experts to share life-saving global experiences and cutting-edge management strategies.
With contributions from over 150 distinguished local and international faculty, this is an unparalleled opportunity for networking, mentorship, and academic growth.
Beyond the lecture halls, we invite our foreign guests to immerse themselves in the legendary warm hospitality of Sri Lanka. From our pristine beaches to our rich cultural heritage, we hope you find time to explore the beauty of our island home.
